A 2nd Grader, a trip to Ohio, family from Utah, Father's day & a Fishing trip

Well, I have come to the conclusion that we only do things in "clumps". We either have nothing going on or everything all at once. We have definitely had a whirlwind of about 10 days! I now have a 2nd grader on my hands. Collin is officially out of school! Summer here we come!

My sister & her family were in Ohio visiting my parents (they are pastors in SLC, Utah), so we took a trip down there for a few days. It had been 1 1/2 years since I have seen my sister & almost 4 years since I've seen my brother in law! We were sooo busy, but it was great to see family & friends. Thank you Jenna for letting us stay with you!! After our trip, my brother in law went home to Utah, and my sister, her kids, & my mom came up here for a visit. We had such a great time...went to the beach 2 times (1st time for my niece & nephew to swim in a lake!), Collin's baseball game, and filled almost every minute we had with other festivities.

While we were in Ohio, we were able to see my friend Jenna's plane...Collin wanted to fly it, and Halley was afraid we were going to "blast off"!

June 5, 2007

I can't believe the school year is almost over--just a few more days & my baby is going to be done with first grade! Collin had a poetry recital and awards ceremony today at school. Kevin's dad came to watch the kids & I am sooo thankful that I could go & watch Collin & take some pictures. It would have been impossible with Cameron because he would have never sat through 2 hours of first graders reciting various poems--I was getting restless at the end! Collin did such a great job with his poem...but he was extremely interested in what was in his shoes and at the imaginary bugs in the air that he kept trying to catch while his classmates were reciting their poems. I wish I had it on video to show, but he apparently was so bored that his shoes were the most fun thing to play with. Despite the bug catching, shoe playing, etc, I am so proud of him. His teacher has given him many compliments about his good choices & how he is a role model for his friends.

We re-did our landscaping over Memorial Day weekend. We still have some finishing touches (like mulch), but we slaved through the downpours of the weekend and got it done!
